Celebrating Failure
1)
If there was one thing I failed at this semester
it was definitely the cupcakes in this class. At the beginning of the class I
got the first two cupcakes completely right and then said to myself, hey you don’t
have to watch the lectures anymore. Obviously in a result the next three weeks
after that I failed miserably on those cupcakes. I kept on saying to myself hey
at least you got one right. After my third time, I started watching the lecture
videos again so my grade wouldn’t suffer any more.
2)
If there was one thing I learned it’s that when
a professor puts up lecture videos, it’s for a reason. You figure I should know
this because I’m a senior and this is my second to last semester and I should
know better by now. The truth is a got lazy and valued fantasy football more than
I did this class. Overall the lesson I learned is take advantage of the tools
that are given to you so that you can be successful.
3)
I’m what they call a late bloomer, I would say
that I didn’t really mature until I got to college. I’ve experienced a lot of
failure in my life and it honestly used to eat me up. I didn’t get into UF as a
freshman and had to go to community college, I lost a soccer scholarship at the
beginning of my senior year in high school, the list can go on and on about my failures.
But if there is one thing I’ve learned from failure, it’s to use it as
motivation. I’ve always said to myself it’s not about where you start in life
it matters where you end up. At the end of the day soccer wasn’t going to get
me anywhere, and I am going to graduate from the University of Florida. Failure
is great, I use it as motivation, I have a chip on my shoulder because of how
many times I’ve failed. From this class and by reading How to Fail at Just About
Everything and Still Win Big I’ve confirmed by view point of failure. Obvious I
don’t want to go out and try to fail but I do know there are always valuable lessons
to be learned by having things not always go your way.
Hey Conner,
ReplyDeleteIm glad that you learned to take advantage of the lectures posted online by our professors. I believe that knowledge is power and by watching these, especially when paying hundreds of dollars per credit hour, one is gaining an immense amount of knowledge. Also, you have gained a valuable skill, you have learned how to turn your failures into your motivation. With that, almost nothing can stand in your way.
Conner,
ReplyDeleteI think its great that you already have such a positive outlook on failure. Too many times in life you see people get caught up feeling sorry for themselves that they forget to learn from their mistakes and better themselves. It is truly sad because we all fail from time to time. The distinguishing factor between successful people and unsuccessful people is how people react to their failures. You are destine for success with a mindset like yours and I look forward to seeing great things from you in the future.
Conner,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, good job on this post. I am so glad to see that you have learned a lot by challenging the cupcake. I can't agree more with the cupcake part for this class. I was also struggling with this part in the beginning, so I understand how hard you overcome these difficulties. I am also glad to see that you can turn these failures to your motivation. Well done!
