Reading Reflection
1)
You read about an entrepreneur
a)
One thing that surprised me as that someone who
was over age of 50 was still this hungry to get what he wanted.
b)
I admired how much he believed in McDonalds and
was able to identify a need for fast food and transformed the food industry.
c)
I was not a fan how risky he was, at times he
could have really hurt his family with his financial decisions.
d)
Ray Croc did encounter adversity especially in
his early career. However, he was able to overcome it and ended up being one of
the most successful entrepreneurs that affected many people lives, after all
everyone has eaten McDonalds at least once in their life.
2) What
competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?
Ray Croc was a bold man and chased
after his dreams and was fearless in his decisions. At times his home life was
not well and still risked a lot in order to get what he desired.
3)
Identify at least one part of the reading that
was confusing to you.
I found it very confusing when he
switched from selling cups to milkshake makers. I feel that the author did a
poor job in transitioning into this part.
4)
If you were able to ask
two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?
Do you feel bad about how things ended with your family life?
Do you think you could
have just copied the original McDonalds business ideology and been successful under
a different name?
5)
For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's
opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?
I believe that Ray Croc has one of the best mentalities
when it comes to hard work and in order to get what you want in life don’t stop
fighting. This entrepreneur experience has helped me to understand to never
stop when things get rough and to just grind it out. If you believe in
something and are passionate about it and know that your product/idea is great
then keep on pursuing your dream.
I think you did a good job referencing the troubles that Ray Croc sometimes had in his home life. We learn in other courses about the work life balance and how much of a part that plays in our careers and lives. It is interesting to see that even someone as successful as Croc still has home struggles and needs to find ways to get through them. I think you did a good job with this blog post and as always, am looking forward to seeing more from you in the future.
