I have found that this exercise has further help me make a
point about the parking situation in Gainesville. In all three interviews,
there was a need for parking locations near their apartments and they would all
be willing to pay a reasonable price per month. I also found that people are
very limited on what to do when they can’t find parking. It is either find a
spot very far from your apartment or risk it and park at an apartment complex
and hope you don’t get towed. Furthermore, you can’t google “where to park in Gainesville”
you just have to know the area in order to find a spot that your allowed to
park at.
I would categorize this as a need-aware situation. This is a
problem that many students face every day and it becomes very frustrating to
not find a place to park. There are definitely going to be multiple challenges
in order to build a parking lot in an area that is already overcrowded, but It
just makes sense.

ReplyDeleteThe risk of getting towed can be a major problem, especially because most apartment complexes in the Gainesville area tow like crazy. It is difficult to resolve the parking situation, but I think the idea of an extra lot in this specific are is a great way to start.
As someone who got towed on the second day of school this year, I definitely think that there is a need for more parking in gainesville. The spots are so tight as is, and there is definitely a lack of them all over campus. Furthermore, i think extra lots would be a good way to start and that it is absolutely necessary on this campus. Maybe in the future they will build some, at least lets hope so!

ReplyDeleteI was towed last month and let me tell you, it sucks and it is expensive. This city needs more parking, bigger spaces, and they need to do it as soon as possible. I hope that your idea catches wind and lands upon the right ears because this could be beneficial for every UF employee or student. Great post!

ReplyDeleteI personally is willing to pay the reasonable price per month for the parking space too. Sometimes I get up late, and I will be late if I still take the bus to school. So I hope there are more parking areas near the school so that I can avoid this kind of situation. As UF students, we all know that even students pay for the decal, they still cannot find a parking space because of the limited area of land. Great work!
